PMMA Nanoparticles are Highly Flammable!

In the fields like research and analysis, the importance of the nanoparticles is quite up. There is a wide range of nanoparticles that are used these days at these fields in order to receive accurate result. Instead of using the bulk materials, researchers prefer to use the micro versions of them so that they can conduct the research and analysis process easily and accurately. One such material is the PMMA nanoparticle. These nanoparticles come in different sizes and best known as the acrylic nanoparticles. These PMMA nanoparticles are the amorphous ones and they are transparent in look. These nanoparticles are not having any colors. These microparticles are best known for their hardness and stiffness. These are also having strong resistance against UV light and abrasion.
PMMA Nanoparticles

  • Optical clarity is very high

PMMA stands for polymethyl methacrylate and the nanoparticles of this element are in demand now. These microparticles are equipped with very high optical clarity. This is a big reason why these elements are picked first for the research and analysis like purpose. However, the PMMA nanoparticles use to have a very poor solvent resistance property. These nanoparticles are going to dissolve in the organic solvents easily. In benzene, acetone and halogenated hydrocarbons, these microparticles can dissolve quickly.
  •  Highly flammable

These microparticles are highly flammable but at the same time they emit very less or no smoke. Rather than the polystyrene, these microparticles are equipped with a low hydrophobic property.
